Cupcakes on the Today Show!

Well, the producer from the Today Show never got back in touch with me, probably because they didn't use any of our statistics or pictures in their segment on the Cupcake Craze. (I do a fair bit of work with the media for my "real job" and this isn't unusual at all.) From speaking with the producer, it seemed like the piece would be focusing on how cupcakeries are no longer a big-city fad and are popping up in small towns across the country. That angle must've changed at some point since the segment primarily consists of interviews of Candace Nelson of Sprinkles Cupcakes in LA and Jennifer Appel of Buttercup Bake Shop in NY City.

Sprinkles Cupcakes and Buttercup Bake Shop are probably two of the most famous cupcake locales, right behind Magnolia Bakery (which Jennifer Appel co-founded). Never fear small-town cupcakeries! We at Cupcake Fetish will continue to endeavor to spread the word about you far and wide!

One more thing. On the official Today Show blog, Noah Oppenheim calls Sprinkles Cupcakes the perfect cupcake. As you can see from my post yesterday, Courtney Love disagrees. I've never been, but you can read Baron's reviews on Sprinkles' profile page. I'm eagerly anticipating my trip to LA next week so I can see (or taste) for myself!
